Lagos State Governor, Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu, at the inauguration of the 57 Local Government and Local Council Development Areas (LCDAs) Chairmen and Vice Chairmen, has barred the new council executives from appointing any Secretary to Local Governments (SLGs), Supervisory Councilors and Special Advisers.
While giving them the directive during his speech at the swearing -in ceremony held at the Sports Ground, Lagos House, Alausa, Ikeja on Sunday, he urged them to use the next 30 to 60 days to settle down and familiarise themselves with the needs of their communities.

Sanwo – Olu also added that that the new council bosses will be duly informed when it is time for them to make the announcements.
However, Mr Governor enjoined them to make the appointment of their Chief of Staffs
“You are not under any pressure to announce SLGS, Supervisors or Special Advisers. We are going to give you time to settle in, to understand the rudiments of the work.

“To go round and learn. Hit the ground and understand what the people really want. Make sure that you gather enough information about expectations of your people. We will give you 30 to 60 days before the issue of supervisors or SLGs will come up for discussion and decision.
“But you are allowed, just for you to settle, in, to appoint Chief of Staff, so that you can start work from tomorrow (today).

“Any other one, put it on hold until you hear from us,” he said.
He assured them that the state will be using the next few months to support them with trainings.
